Tesla Model 3 Performance Experience
I had the opportunity to test drive a performance model 3 and was blown away by the vehicle. I had sat in the model 3 before and experienced the interior controls and layout the right after Tesla placed a mode 3 in their manhattan showroom. This model 3 has the white interior which immediately captures your attention when you approach & sit inside the car. The bright white interior is unique and looks incredible. The cars all glass roof made the tesla feel extremely roomy inside. After sitting in the driver seat you notice the model 3 has a slightly different display from the model S/X. Instead of the large display known for in the S/X the 3 has a rectangular shaped screen placed comfortably at around eye level. This made driving the car and monitoring controls relatively easy, even without having the display directly behind the steering wheel. The tesla model 3 is comparable in size to the C class Mercedes or 3 series bmw. After admiring the interior for a few moments it was time to take the car for a spin. This car was quite a fun experience. The only other tesla I had driven up until this point was a P100D Model S. Initially I was looking at getting the tesla model 3 with awd but after the performance model was released I was intrigued. Soon after Tesla started offering test drives of the model 3 performance I had signed up. I had an appointment in a few days and brought another car guy along with me to experience the car. He’s the average guy that likes V8’s & fast cars. He had never driven an electric car before and was blown away at what this model 3 could do.
After beginning the test drive I turned the car onto the highway. With no traffic in sight I immediately dropped the accelerator and felt the car take off. (0-60 3.3 sec) It felt like a rocket. The car had no hickups or lag like a ICE does. The cars power blows away many high end performance cars while still being a four door sedan. I feel my twin turbo porsche would have a hard time keeping up with this Tesla.
The car has 310 miles of battery range which is more than enough for most commuters & was never a worry for us while driving. The vehicle knows where the nearest charging stations are located and can be accounted for while taking trips, So don’t fear that youll run out of electric power.
After testing the cars speed and performance for a few We decided to test the cars autopilot abilities. The first time I had let the car take control of the road was quite an experience. You engage the autopilot at the maximum speed and the car won’t exceed it. When we approached a Street light a vehicle was in front of us. The car smoothly came down in speed slowly without issue. The car slowly came down from 20mph to 10 to 5..4..3..2.1. It was a perfect stop slightly behind the driver infront of us. The car stopped better than most humans would have. When the light went green the tesla kept a consistent distance as the car in front began to take off. After this I hopped out of the driver seat and let my guest experience the tesla for the very first time. He started to drive and tested its instantaneous torque. He had never driven an electric car before and was astonished at how quickly the car responded & how intelligent the Tesla autopilot system is. This car is unlike a Benz or BMW, it’s far superior.
A simple test drive in a model 3 performance will make any skeptic, A believer. For those that have never experienced the car; Don’t go off my experience, see for yourself.
