StarLink is the backbone of the Tesla Network
When the cell phone age came about coverage maps continued to grow to the point we are today. Today many rural parts of the world including remote parts of the US do not have the communication networks like most cities and suburbs. This problem is very minimal because of the majority of Americans live inside of these areas. The problem of dropped calls and no service zones is a small problem for cellphones and other mobile gadgets but is a huge problem for autonomous vehicles sending and recieving large amounts of data in real time. The networks of Verizon and ATT Have currently will not be able to adequately handle such a data load. The only efficient way to cover the entire earth fora communications network would be a satellite network.
We believe Elon Musk built SpaceX as a dreamer for space travel and accidentally built a monopoly. His team has revolutionized rockets for reusabilty. No other company on earth is close to building reusable rocket boosters. Boeing is a decade behind SpaceX in space innovations and likely to fall further behind. With SpaceX able to reuse rocket boosters I expect their cost to launch satellites would be pennies on the dollar compared to any other competitor. In order for the Tesla Network to work effectively nearly every spot on earth will need to be Internet compatable. This strategy cannot and will not be duplicated by any telecom or automotive company giving Musk's satellite network A large competive advantage.
The Roadster launch gave up all doubt on musks ability to launch something into space safely and will put to rest any argument on the safety of his satellite network. Putting several thousands of satellites into space would have concern to many but Musk sending a vehicle into space reassured that debate before it ever happened.
Aside from the networks benefits to Tesla, the network should bring affordable internet to the globe including the places that lack the infrastructure and investment of companies. In the future autonomous vehicles will require internet access that is far more reliable than today’s telecom networks. The service will be used for phones and computer communications in the early stages but the largest future market for this service will be for autonomous vehicles. Wall St Stock News expect every Tesla to operate on this network including many manufacturers and companies that lack the resources to replicate the Starlink Network. This will create an enormous monthly subscriber base for SpaceX’s Starlink Network. We can see SpaceX with a fully operational StarLink network become more interesting to Tesla in a potential merger. We could see SpaceX being bought by Tesla at some point possibly in 2020 or shortly there after. Elon Musk is revolutionizing the world in many industries, anyone betting against him is making a grave mistake.
