Tesla Model 3

The Tesla showroom in Manhattan just received a Tesla Model 3. I had seen pictures and videos of the car before but I wanted to experience first hand what’s the model 3 was all about. I had gone to this Tesla showroom a few weeks prior. They had one model S & two model X’s on display. Today they had removed an X for the new model 3 to be displayed in the showroom.

The interior looks simple and does not have buttons placed around the driver like most conventional vehicles. Everything on the vehicle can be controlled using the display, including the glove box. It was very simple to use any feature of the vehicle from the display without much effort. The 3 is a smaller vehicle over the S but the interior was still quite spacious. This vehicle is far superior to anything in its class. You would be foolish to purchase a 3 series BMW if you could buy this car instead.  If you compare this car to a similar vehicle from Mercedes, BMW, or Audi; the Model 3 is the clear winner.

The only negative around the car today is production. I expect Tesla to increase it’s ability to produce vehicles over the next few quarters. This could lower wait times for the model 3 substantially, bringing in more potential customers that refuse to wait over a year for a vehicle. When wait times for the model three become less than 60 days, I expect sales to pick up.

Every model 3 is equipped with Tesla Autopilot 2.0 and will be capable of full autonomy in the future. The only three vehicles capable of this technology so far are Tesla’s S,X & 3. Any vehicle lacking this technology would be deemed obsolete when autonomy is reached. Tesla is the vehicle manufacturer currently producing an autonomous system in every vehicle they produce. If you want to compare the model 3 to a chevy bolt the debate ends at autopilot. Chevy is years away from a comparable autopilot competitor to Tesla.

That advantage is likely to grow for Tesla as every single vehicle they produce begins to feed data into the Tesla Network. This is just the beginning of Tesla’s story. We expect Tesla to grow to $500 Billion over the next decade if they continue on the path they set for themselves.
