Will your job become obsolete because technology?
The next decade in technology will show large changes in machine automation and robotics.
The world is just beginning its switch to electric automobiles and with that change will be increased autonomous technology into vehicles. Within the next ten years many industries will be disrupted by autonomous vehicles. The two biggest losers will be passenger vehicle services ( such and taxis & phone applications like Uber) the other industry to be disrupted by autonomous vehicles is the trucking industry. Tesla is about to produce an electric tractor trailer that will have next generation technology in autonomy. I expect autonous cars and trucks to disrupt a large portion of the labor force. 10% of the job market currently can disappear just from autonomous vehicles. This change in technology deeming industrys obsolete can be good for consumers but bad for workers currently in the industry. These individuals must adapt to the new technological economy we live in today.
Another industry that can be disrupted by simple technology is restaurants. The dining experience of today will soon be changed by simply placing an electronic tablet designed for ordering on each table. Customers would eliminate the ability to order and request items from a server and directly order themselves. This concept could change the idea of tipping waiters and waitresses by a simple device. The machine could pair to bus boys and food runners to quickly deliver food to customers and change the payment process of the entire business.
Without added tips restraunt customers would save money while possibly receiving better service. Another addition to restraunt is the possibility of using robotic cooking technologies to create customers foods.
These are just two examples of technologies disreputably. This does not account for what artificial intelligence can do to the workplaces of accountants, attorneys, & doctors. Investing in a college education may do little for you if your occupation becomes obsolete over the next decade. If you want to remain relevant and have security in the labor force you should prepare for these technological advancement and understand how these types of technology will continue to disrupt human labor.
