Why the Pixel 2 is the only Android phone to consider.

  1. The Google Pixel Smartphone receives software updates directly from the mother ship. Therefore, they are always first to get the latest features and fixes.

  2. The Pixel range also runs Google’s stock Android software. With no added bloat ware, this “pure” version of Android is a much nicer experience than the heavily-modified version that powers the Galaxy S8.

  3. Google offers UNLIMITED cloud storage for full-resolution photographs and videos shot with its Pixel Smartphone.

  4. Hardware plays a smaller role in benchmarking when compared to Samsung as we near an almost instant experience with our phones and the software will become the main focus for efficiency.

  5. Machine learning and AI (Artificial Intelligence) that will affect the performance of the phone and the user experience in a positive and more efficient manner.

  6. The Google Pixel 2 is expected to have the best camera of any Android Smartphone on the market and compared to the Apple iPhone X, the experience will be very similar. Both phones will have minor differences in the overall quality based on shooting conditions. DxO, the authority of rating optical quality, has bestowed the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL with the highest score in its history.

DxOMark - “The Google Pixel 2 is the most top-performing mobile device camera we’ve ever tested, with a record-setting overall score of 98.Impressively, it manages this despite having ‘only’ a single-camera design for its main camera. Its top scores in most of our traditional photo and video categories put it ahead of our previous (tied) leaders, the Apple iPhone 8 Plus and the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.”

The following states one example of machine learning and AI optimization.

Google - "The Pixel 2 uses a single camera at a time when dual cameras are expected on a flagship smartphone. Despite that single camera, the new phone can snap a convincing, DSLR-like Portrait Mode photo — a capability that was a key feature of the dual-camera system Apple introduced with the iPhone 7 Plus and carried forward to the iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X. Google says it doesn’t need the additional hardware because its AI is so good."

The iPhone and Pixel are positioned to dominate the future phone market by introducing new standards in bench marking phones from 2017 into the future. With advanced machine learning and AI that is lacking is in the competition (Samsung) it is unlikely that anyone in the phone market will be able to play catch up in this field due to the long history and early jump into these technologies that both companies have invested. Moving forward, hardware will play a smaller role in phone standards as we are closely approaching almost instant load times and performance. The only factor moving forward that will affect this experience will be the quality of your wireless connection speeds.

Let’s take a moment to talk about sensors. Almost every cell phone today uses a Sony image sensor with the exception of Huawei, who partnered with Leica, and Google, who created their own. The point of these sensors being pushed out to the mass market are to collect as much data about them as possible to fine tune the sensor for enhanced focusing and recognition algorithms. Today's current examples of AI uses GPU processing being fed information via an imaging sensor in order to see and evaluate the world in the same way your eyes feed your brain information. Until now, the quickest imagining sensor on the planet was created by Sony Semiconductors and Google did what was thought to be the impossible. They created a sensor that can rival, and in some cases outperform, the Sony sensor which was thought to never have an equal. The companies with the most information collected to better enhance these sensors will claim the most market dominance in anything related to AI,which is the driving factor for Apple and Google. With the stock pile of money both companies have, combined with the race for collecting data for these AI systems, nothing will stand in their way to becoming the dominating force in the race for AI.

We believe that moving forward, as current Pixel users share their experience and coach others into their ecosystem, Samsung's current hold on the market will shrink considerably.

Does anyone stand a chance? Maybe.

We think an unlikely opponent will be revived in new light due to the success of Microsoft’s Azure, which is currently dominating over IBM in the cloud AI commercial market. The Azure features and applications can be ported and implemented into a Microsoft cell phone. Although the company has stopped making consumer cell phones, it is speculated they may revamp a new series of phones with powerful hardware and futures aimed at business professionals and cell phone enthusiasts. These phones will likely yield a more demanding price tag than most people are willing to spend, but a phone of this magnitude could be highly sought after. It could lead the way as far as innovation, criterion and the expectations of what a mobile phone can be capable of doing.
