Amazon is growing something good with Whole Foods
Wall St Stock News back in May wrote about Amazons future in the grocery industry. We accurately predicted Amazon purchasing the organic grocer Whole Foods before everyone else. Our team believes this is just the beginning of Amazons entry into retail. With Amazons leadership we expect the customer experience to only improve. As a Whole Foods customer I have seen in store changes occurring since Amazons purchase of the organic grocer. When you enter the store Amazon has strategically placed its Echo & Dot system by the door, trying to appeal to customers unaware of the technological devices Amazon has developed.
Amazon is placing Amazon Lockers inside of Whole Foods locations. You can pick up Amazon items and Amazon fresh items right in store. Additionally an Amazon product display has now been placed in whole food stores in Manhattan.
Amazon announced prime member benefits at Whole Foods. Currently Amazon prime members get a discount on turkey for this holiday season. We expect the prime discounts to continue into the in store Whole Foods experience. We expect the whole foods food brand in organic food product categories to grow. Expanding more into its own food categories could increase Whole Foods margins for Amazon. One category Whole Foods could expand into is juices and smoothies to compete with Naked brands and other organic drinks in the market. This could be the case for any popular organic food or drink brand currently sold in places like Whole Foods or Trader Joe's. As a Whole Foods customer I'm very excited for what Amazon has in store for the grocery store of the 21st century.
