ATT's 5G hotspot will disrupt Comcast & cable providers monopoly
I anticipate over the next several years mergers within media and distribution networks of telecom networks & cable providers. This consolidation will make sense for consumers as the transition from paying a cable/Internet bill and cellular/Internet bill will change into one collective bill from one provider such as AT&T which is currently doing this with their DirecTV network. Companies such as Comcast have theoretical monopolies on many consumers home Internet bill. They are the only company I can purchase home Internet through at my house which is a textbook definition of a monopoly. The advantage of a 5G home hotspot network are tremendous & could replace routers and modems into a centralized hotspot unit that supplies all of the Internet capabilities that your home may need. The increase in smart home technologies will only continue to expand into more rooms and gadgets than ever thought of before. The idea of one universal bill under $250 could make a lot of consumers consider switching from a separate cable provider and a cellphone network into one company with one monthly payment. Right now with the way landline Internet to your home is it forces many homes to be locked into Comcast's monopoly and paying extremely high rates for such little service. Now imagine a 5G hotspot like device that operates as a modem and router wirelessly connecting all your devices and not connected to the cable network, eliminating the middle man and providing customers with monthly savings each month. We speculate Comcast is only getting into the wireless space to increase the likelihood of Comcast merging with a telecom provider. It would not shock me to see Verizon and Comcast merge to form a strong challenge to ATT. Additional to this merger we could see T-Mobile merging with Sprint and possibly Dish Network to build a strong competitor against ATT & Verizon's business model. We at Wall St Stock News believe ATT is currently the best company positioned for 5G and the effect it will have on the Cable, Internet & Cellphone industries.
