Is MGM/Caesars project in Atlantic City an Arena?
MGM and Caesars see that entertainment in Atlantic City is very low. This issue is due to the fact that no modern arenas exist there. Boardwalk Hall is a small venue to hold concerts and events but it is nothing compared to a modern arena. MGM owns land in between Harrahs and Borgata currently. the use of this land to become entertainment venue would be a brilliant idea and It could a split venture between both parties by increasing traffic to the two largest casinos casinos in Atlantic City. Atlantic City has missed out on UFCs growth and big ticket boxing events because they lack the building to accommodate such events. MGM partnered with Anschutz Entertainment Group to build the T-Mobile arena to the Las Vegas strip. So the possibility of doing this on the land that was once going to be MGM Grand Atlantic City is a real possibility. In addition to sports a large seat arena would allow for bigger named concert events to be scheduled in AC instead of being skipped right over for a larger venue such as MetLife stadium.
The increase in entertainment would bring more life to a city that desperately needs it. Over the next few years new projects are likely to emerge in Atlantic City including the sale and rebranding of Revel. We speculate MGM could purchase the property to create a boardwalk presence in AC. NJ and Atlantic City desperately need growth to come back to the city. This growth can't be just from casino gaming, which is now common in most east coast states; but A wide variety of new entertainment could bring new life to Atlantic City.
