AMD is the future…

AMD is the future…

Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), Inc. is an American multinational semiconductor company based in Sunnyvale, California, United States.

Intel (INTC), AMD (AMD), and Micron Technology (MU), are the only names to own as semiconductor sales growth heads toward a “plateau." but even with slower growth ahead AMD still appears to be the better ecosystem to place your bet on with larger future growth potential.

AI - AMD and Nvidia are about to break into a whole new market of electric cars and will be implementing commercial grade GPU technology with imaging sensors (Sony) for autonomous driving and more affordable assisted driving and collision avoidance systems for people who cannot afford full autonomy. There's no getting around the fact that GPU’s are the key component for Automotive AI application. I truly believe that AMD at any price point is going to be a worthwhile investment.

Gaming - Activision and EA are both working on full 3D immersive games that are going to push the next level of performance gaming. We're at a point in time where people don’t need to upgrade their CPUs or memory as often to notice or meet growing performance demands anymore. With current CPU horsepower and SSD hard drive technology, load times, buffer speeds and start up times of computer systems are almost instant.Upgrading these parts moving forward will become more and more unnecessary with much larger time gaps in between before performance becomes an issue. With graphics cards being the most crucial hardware required for the benefitting of 3D gaming, the performance required will drive a new wave of demand for upgrading graphics cards as the technology advances in 3D gaming and entertainment.

Mobile processors - AMD is planning a new mobile product codenamed “Little Foot”.This new architecture is a marvel of low-power and high-efficiency performance. What clicks in my brain with that information is the current feud between Apple and Qualcomm who are engaged in what will likely be a drawn out, epic battle. Qualcomm has been charging high royalties for use of its technology. Qualcomm required Apple to pay a percentage of the iPhone’s revenue in return for the use of Qualcomm patents. Apple has then sued Qualcomm in multiple countries. Apple doesn't like the tight grip that Qualcomm is trying to put on them and could be looking for a way out from Qualcomm and its business practices that include manipulating companies and the market that is met with no real competitors.Unfortunately, quality has to be met with the iPhone to compete against other market trending phones in the Google (Android) lineup. If AMD can crack the code, it could be of tremendous value to Apple who has just given AMD the entitlements to be the processor in their high-end laptops. I see this as a hint that Apple is willing to tip their hat towards AMD and might already have a plan set for a partnership to be established in which they deal exclusively with AMD across their whole product line of laptops, tablets, cell phones and home entertainment.

I do not value AMD to have more value then Nvidia right now and believe Nvidia will be the leader for AI hardware in the states for years to come, but what is good for Nvidia is also good for AMD as they can offer competition and lower pricing in the same sectors that Nvidia branches out into. AMD is very diversified offering GPU's, CPU's, APU's and soon Mobile Smartphone CPU's at very competitive prices all while taking the steps necessary to to re-brand the company, create powerful hardware and most importantly turning a profit for the second quarter of 2017. I would suspect to see more premium product offerings and prices moving forward.
