Uber will not win the Autonomous Auto War

Uber is the largest privately traded company on earth. The belief behind ubers story is one day they will be the autonous auto fleet to pick you up and eliminate your need for a personal automobile. Many speculate Uber will have a large presence in this space in the future when taxis become driverless. All of Silicon Valley is battling In this space. Uber cosistantly raises private equity funds to suplement its fleet of human drivers. Once autonomy is reached the shift from drivers to machine will be a challenge for uber to combat. The costs of a fleet of autonomous vehicles are enormous something Uber doesn't have. The cost alone gives Apple or Google an enormous advantage over Uber; a company that is not a profitable enterprise. A minimal nation wide electric fleet with adequate pickup times would likely be at least 1 million vehicles. Using Teslas Model 3 as a example car at 35k you would need $35 billion dollars+ before charging infrastructure and maintenance costs. Apple and Google will easily be able to throw down these costs and build an Uber like app (Apple Ride / Waymo Ride) making Uber obsolete overnight. Apple and Google will be able to fund fleets far larger than competitors so wait times are far shorter than an Uber could provide. Subscription based car service models could give Apple and Google an advantage over owning a car with a payment, insurance and  maintenance costs. Ubers future is in Uber eats because they have already lost if they intend to battle Tesla, Google & Apple.
